Thread Comparison
 

Has anyone seen a comparison chart/list of threads. I came on a sign in a thread booth at a recent quilt show that had a sign on one of its threads that said "Compare (or same as) _______ thread" and listed the name of the competitive thread. It appears to me that there are few mills that make thread and companies buy and package it under their own brand name. I looked at the web site of one company and there was a listing of other thread brands listing their thread the same or similar t other brands. This might save some money in choosing threads.

I haven't seen anything like that but will watch this thread. If it is available someone on this board will have seen/found it!

I have a small microscope and I compare threads. It's amazing the difference. I do think the Aurifil thread picture in the above chart is not as close up as the others.

Holice - I found this http://www.sewterific.com/threadcharts.htm I am not sure that this is what you are looking for however, as most of it is embroidery based - and a lot of it is color comparisons.
