Thread Painting

I'm considering what type of quilting to do on my dog wall hanging thread painting is a possibility, exept I've never done it.

Can anyone share their experiences with thread painting and any good videos or tutorials that you've come across?

Thanks, Watson

Patsy Thompson has an excellent video on thread painting. Her website is: https://www.patsythompsondesigns.com Go to "education" and then "videos". Under that you will find Part 1 and Part 2 on Trapunto. It is in the 2nd video that she really gets into thread painting. Her work is just awesome!

... Just Do It! :)

I just kind of followed what people mentioned here on the QB and then went at it with a piece of print with butterflies, flowers, ferns and all sorts of greenery on it.

Think of it as FMQing that gives you all sorts of permission to colour and go back and forth having fun!

On your tulle thread, I suggested you check out MaryKatherine and gave you some links .... check about the thread painting too.

Also, check out CatPatches.
She uses thread painting to finish off and pull it all together for her Pawrtraits.

Only for you Dear Watson! I pulled boxes of patterns to find the name of the quilt design. But I found the corresponding tuts for you finally!

There are different ones for the blocks to this quilt but methods are similar.

Be careful of filling in too much fill with thread. It can pull the fabric too much. You may want to use an embroidery wash-away topping for any small areas that might pucker or tear.

PS: You may want to try the variegated threads for add dimension.
