Has anyone ever used hand-quilting thread or machine quilting thread on your mid or long arm quilting machine? I'm talking about the 350 yard Coats & Clark's spools of thread like you can purchase at Hancock's? I know I could never use it on my domestic sewing machine, but thought it might work on the LA. Just wondering before I attempt it. :)

I wouldn't use hand quilting thread in any machine. It has a glazing on it that does not make sewing machines happy. I haven't tried the Coates machine sewing thread.

I was told not to use hand-quilting thread on my HQ, because it is made differently.

I have always been told not to use hand quilting thread with a sewing machine.

Thanks, Sadiemae....I have an HQ also. But, just wondering...where DO you use machine quilting thread....the Coats & Clark type?

I have several brands. I have some Maxi-lock swirls left from when I quilted on the mega quilter. It works well for me, but I have heard people say they can't or won't use it. I am on a fixed income so if I have to purchase it, I can't spend very much. I bought one spool of Essential Pro, but I haven't used it yet. The expensive threads like King Tut are wonderful, but there is just no way I have enough money to purchase them. Ebay is a good place to look. I have never used Coats and Clark.
