Can someone tell me if Coats and Clark 40 weight machine embroidery thread (100% poly) is the same as “glide thread”?

no. two very different threads.

I am using it for machine quilting on my current quilt and it is working quite well. Hope it doesn’t come back to bite me.....

Totally different brands

Glide is a name brand.
