When looking for thread a Joanns, I want to purchase 100% cotton on a large cone. I can't seem to find it or I'm not understanding what I'm looking for. All I seem to find on cones is thread that says serger on it or overlock. I'm not using either one so this isn't the thread I should purchase right? I know I can get it at CT, but I need it sooner then I can get it from them. Maybe Joanns doesn't carry the large cones, or maybe I'm just missing something.

I have never found large cones of quilting machine cotton at JoAnns. The only large cones our local store carries are serger thread which I don't like to use. I buy mine online, there are lots of choices at your fingertips.

where do you buy your thread from online, can you share the link with us
Thank you, Craftybear

I use thread from Threadart, bought online. They have such good prices. The thread is strong cotton, but it is linty and I have to brush out the lint from the bobbin area with each bobbin change. Sometimes there will be a knot in the thread, not often, maybe one knot per cone. There are many better brands and qualities out there. I use a lot of thread and can't spend the prices of the really good stuff.

I buy my piecing thread Essentials from Connecting Threads on a cone. For Quilting on the Long Arm we buy King Tut from Superior Threads online.

Just bought oodles of Essentials thread from Connecting Threads.
Otherwise I use the Coats and Clarks Machine Quilting & Crafts mercerized Cotton Size #50 1200 yds from Egypt. It's not cheap, about $5.19 where I get. |
