thread???

I have a chance to buy thread new never used still in plastic for 10 cents a spool and 20 cents for the larger ones my dilemma is that it is all 100 %polyester thread . She does have a few spools of coated polyester thread. I was wondering your thoughts on the subject. So far I have been told to use 100% cotton thread so not sure if it is a wise investment for me. Please give me your thoughts on this matter...the thread is coming from a fabric store that has gone out of business.

What manufacturer? I'd see if you can buy one or two first to test on your machine. Many people are using poly thread to quilt and piece with. I still prefer cotton, but if the thread is decent and it works well with your machine, go for it.

Buy it! Your machine may love it or not but at that price it can be used for whip stitching, basting and many other uses. I use poly thread for piecing and quilting. All vintage quilts have cotton thread used in making them because that's all there was to use other then silk and silk was too expensive or impossible to get for most quilters. It's not true any more. Poly thread is great in the bobbin as it is lint free. Masterpiece and Sew Fine thread is all poly as is other top brand names of quilting thread.

I agree, go ahead and buy it. As long as your sewing machine doesn't object, go ahead and use it.

I probably use more poly than cotton. I would buy it for sure.

I was a die hard cotton thread user but have since switched. I love it! No problems--less lint!

I just got a ton of Poly thread as a bonus with my new quilting machine. I'd say get it. Thread is expensive.

Why are you waiting? Run, do not walk! If you don't want it, swap it! Give it as a gift! Many people would consider that almost a priceless opportunity.

She has 2500 spools of thread don't think I will buy them all. But thanks for your advice.
