I am looking to see what kind of thread (brand & weight please) you prefer to use for:

I love Sulky Blendables thread for machine quilting...love the way the thread changes colors.
Hand quilting...I don't really hand quilt anymore except to do the utility stitching with pearl cotton.
Hand Applique....don't do much, but use embroidery weight thread like DMC when I do, also silk thread.

For hand piecing and for FMQ on my domestic machine, my favorite is Aurifil 50wt 2-ply thread.

For machine quilting on my midarm, Aurifil 50wt is not strong enough but Aurifil 40wt works fine.

Can't help with anything but the hand quilting thread. I usually use whatever brand/weight comes in the color I want for a given project. I use Americana (JoAnn's - which is a fairly heavy weight thread); Coats & Clark and Guterman. None seem to give specific weights - all are just labeled 'hand quilting' thread. I've had equally good success/results with all of them and have mixed them in the same quilt with no issues.

I do not hand quilt. I FMQ on my domestic machine. If I'm stitching in the ditch and don't want my quilting to show, I use Superior Bottom line in both the top and bobbin. If I want my quilting to show I like Connecting Threads. I have read that some find it has too much lint, but I love the colors, and I like how it lays on the fabric.

For piecing on machine I use Superior Masterpiece. Easy for me to remember Master-Piece! I need all the help I can get.
For hand applique I use YLI silk.
Hand quilting I use Mettler waxed #138 (hard to find)
No experience with the FMQ

Free motion quilting, I use Isacord 40wt poly. For piecing, Presencia 60wt 3 ply cotton. For hand applique, YLI 100wt silk. For general sewing, Mettler Metrosene. For machine applique, King Tut or Sulky Blendables.
