Which thread to use?

Which brand of thread do you use and like most for machine quilting your quilts using a sewing machine not a long arm?

what ever thread my machine likes, is the right color and the right weight for my quilting project- sometimes cotton (essential cottons from connecting threads I have a lot of) sometimes aurafil, sometimes silk, sometimes monofilament invisible, sometimes polyester-what ever is right for my project- and my machine likes it.

I use Aurifil 50 wt. for piecing and for quilting on my Pfaff. I like a fine thread for quilting.

Aurifil 50wt 2-ply for quilting on my domestic machine.

I've been using Metro brand machine embroidery thread, love the price, the colors and the excellent service.

I only use Aurafil 50wt. It sews and quilts beautifully on my machine and my machine definitely dictates which thread it prefers!

I use Superior exclusively. So Fine for piecing, some quilting, some of their other products depending on projects, sign up for their newsletter so you can get their specials

I prefer Superior So Fine #50. I get the small cones, which last a long, long time. The price is extremely reasonable and my Janome loves the thread.

It depends on the look I want. Finer threads will blend in more and disappear. You can also do closer quilting with a finer thread. Sometimes I want a bolder look and I'll use a heavier weight. I so far I've used Aurifil, Prescencia, King Tut, and Wonderfil for quilting. I have used Star quilting thread in the past but I found it to be linty and slubby. I don't like Coats and Clark or Gutterman.

Although I like Aurifil for piecing and occasionally quilt with it, I like a slightly thicker - 40wt- thread for quilting.

I love Superior King Tut as there is a great range of colours. I also sometimes use YLI as this is what my LQS stocks. I've also used Sulky 30wt when I've needed high definition - it hardly ever breaks :).
