Thread w/static cling

Does anyone have a problem with thread clinging to fingers when trying to snip it off. I have very dry hand and I keep lotion on them, but still have this problem with static cling with all threads.

Have you tried wiping your hands and/or the spool and/or the general area with a dryer sheet?

When I was a soapmaker I had trouble with static making lye granules go flying everywhere - yikes!! Wiping the jar and my hands and the counter with a dryer sheet fixed that - maybe it will help you too. :)

I use the spray static guard in my sewing room and spray my machines too after I saw the Bernina tech lightly spray the guts of my machine. I do have the window open when I spray. (I'll get tons of pms saying I should) If you are sensitive to sprays then the unscented dryer sheets work great but takes longer to wipe everything.

One other thing that hasn't been mentioned yet, use 100% cotton thread if you aren't already. Anything with polyester is going to get more static.

I found that the thread released from my fingertips just after I tried to pitch it in the garbage. Soooo, I had to bend down and pick it off the floor again and again. I finally made myself a thread catcher to sit on my sewing table so the I can kind of wipe it off in the thread catcher. This has really worked to cut down on threads wrapped around the carpet sweeper.
