I have to agree...its not made well at all and the patterns...not my style. I would have left it to...but we all have different tastes.

I've learned (from previous posts I've made and reading posts others have made) that we all have different opinions. If I hadn't wanted to hear them, I wouldn't have asked. :) I'm not offended.
That said, I may wait until the spirit moves me and take the whole thing apart and separate the blocks and do something new with them. Then again, maybe I won't! Even I don't know. I was a teen and young woman in the 60s and 70s and while I don't remember any particular one of these fabrics, the whole style of them reminds me of those years. ;) |
Fun fabrics! I recently got some books Good Will on quilting and appliqué that date to the 70's - I'll have to take a good look through them and see if I can recognize any fabrics.

I have no idea age of fabrics. I have been very surprised at quilt museums where experts have dated fabrics and I would swear they were a more modern era. If you like the piece and think you have a creative idea go for it! I've seen some awesome results of friends who found old, worn, stained textiles and quilts and when it was "repurposed" they had a treasure. It's yours and you couldn't buy the fabric for $2 :-)!

I think it is worth it. Salvaging something takes much more time and patience. I would say they are more from the early 80s.

I am glad you save it. Do I considerate it a masterpiece....No but I can see someone worked very hard on it and that it was loved. Every quilt has a story and this was done pre-rotary cutter, rulers, and mats. I think the fabrics are from late 60s but mostly 70s.

Wonder if the quilter is still quilting. I started quilting in the early '70s. So my first quilt would be about that vintage. I was sure proud of my first efforts and they were what kept me quilting.

The price was right no matter what you choose to do with it..Do what is going to make you happy...It is your quilt top..
