I too have the screw that holds the needle and it has wacked me a few times!!! I did sew through my finger in Home Ec. Class many many moons ago! Do not want a repeat preformance. I watch Leah Day's videos and gasp several times as she FMQ's and the fingers come awfully close to the needle!

Fortunately, I have never done that, but there seems to be a lot of members on this Board recently, who have. MMMMMMM wonder if it is in the air??

As a matter of fact, I sewed thru my fingernail while FMQ a quilt for my nephew. I think I was so "in shock" about what had happened, I didn't really think too much about it. Luckily, no blood got on the quilt--that would have been worse

Yes, I have sewn through a finger and lived to tell. It was surprising to me how quick it healed.

yes I did that when I was 15! What a testimony to the stength and integrity of the machine.

Mariposa 05-22-2011 04:11 PM

I haven't, but have come close a few times!

quiltmaker52 05-22-2011 04:55 PM

I've done it twice! Once the day before going on vacation! You think I would learn.

sewloved 05-22-2011 05:21 PM

OUCH! I'm hurting for you.

I did FMQ my Machingers on to a quilt the other day. But otherwise, no issues yet. I'm freakishly afraid of sewing one of fingers.
