Tiltable ergonomic sewing table... anyone have one?
 

I saw this on Amazon and was wondering if anyone has any experience with it. It seems that the reviews are a little mixed, but I do suffer from a lot of neck pain while sewing, and was wondering if it would be helpful.

I've used some of the foam pads you use on furniture to lift the back a little bit. What you need to consider is if you tilt it forward are you still going to have good line of sight on the foot. Before investing in it I would try a couple of the pads or even cardboard to see if you are going to like it.

Try putting something under the back of your DSM and see if it helps. I would say use a phone book but then they are not making them like they use to. Maybe a cookbook??

I use rubber doorstops to tilt my machine. Really helps to keep neck pain down. :)

Definitely experiment first with doorstops or whatever else you can find to tilt your machine. I tried a tilt years ago but discovered it interfered too much with my line of vision to the needle. Plus it did not help my neck and shoulders (although it does help some people).

What is your setup like? You may be sitting too high. I find that lowering my chair so that my elbows are not higher than the surface of the machine helps greatly.

I use a 3 ring binder - which has the desired wedge shape - for my desk calculator. Yes, a sewing machine is heavier and may crush the 3 ring binder, but you could probably put a rolled up towel inside for support.

I can't believe they charge $78 for that piece of plastic!!

Rubber door stops will work just as well as that piece of plastic and cost a lot less.

It might be worth the cost of your co-pay (and probably more affordable than that plastic thing) to make an appointment with an occupational or physical therapist. Go in with several photos of you sitting at your machine (taken from different angles) so he/she can assess your setup and advise you.

I use a door wedges. Would the size you show fit your machine on. Just looked at Amazon and seen one fitting a feather weight, such a small machine. It looks a good idea as so many of us already tilt our machines using others things. To me at the moment I wouldn't buy as it is too pricey for my present budget.
