I was at a quilt show and saw a product called the Tilt'able sewing set. It's rather expensive and I wondered if anyone has used it and if it would be worth the investment for a part-time quilter?

If you would like to see how this would work for you, without all the expense, you can get 2 rubber door stops - wedges - & put them under the back of your machine to tilt it towards you. I understand that it is supposed to be better for your neck & back, but when I tried it, I found I preferred my machine bed flat. But for just a couple $$, you can try the door stops & see if you like it.

That's a great suggestion Sue! And if it doesn't work you can always use them to stop the door form the inside and sew more!

My dad made me a little table sort of thing to use under my machine. Honestly, I never used it.

Speaking of products....I have been looking online at some computer programs for quilt designing. Some of them are quite expensive. I was hoping to get some input from you ladies if you have ever tried any, know anyone who has......appreciate your advice.

Skacian, are you talking about programs like EQ6? EQ has a program that is less complicated and the price is much cheaper, too.

I don't have my machine tilted but my cutting table tilts. I love it. I can actually sit down and cut. I bought this table at a sale for $5.00. They sell basically the same thing at Hobby Lobby for $100.

I want to thank Sue for the great hint of putting two door stops under my machine to tilt it. I did and it works perfectly and makes it much easier to see my sewing line.

I have another request for information. How good are the Yo-Yo makers? Anyone tried the thread winder product new to the market. I'm gearing myself up for questions from the family on what I'd like for Christmas : :-)

i have EQ6 and like it very much. it lacks only one feature i consider essential. you can't see the block and the quilt at the same time. you still have to switch back and forth. for the price, i think we ought to be able to see both at once AND watch the quilt change immediately as we edit the blocks (which you can do in pcquilt). i don't regret buying EQ6 but i've already written them to let them know i won't buy any upgrades if they don't add that feature. i hope other EQ owners complain, too. i'm sure they'd "fix" it if enough of us demanded it.

these are all half the price (or less) of the Electric Quilt 6 software. you can download a demo version of pcquilt and of quiltcomposer.

this is the least expensive, at $24.95, but also the most basic. you can only use squares and triangles to design your blocks.
