Tim-tex in purse...how to quilt?
 

Trying to make a large purse for a gift and she likes a stiff purse. So I made a sleeve between front and inside and inserted Timtex.
Would it work to do a bit of FM or straight line quilting with the timtex inserted? Don't want to have to rip it as this fabric was rather pricey and I don't have more.

Timtex is pretty thick. I would get some fabric scraps & timtex scraps and see if your machine will handle it. You should be able to stitch some straight lines.

I have some tim tex to make fabric bowls but haven't used it yet (bought maybe 5years ago). I am interested in the answer because I thought you could quilt it.

Try it first on some scraps. I'm guessing it would be fine to quilt it but, better to check first than be sorry later.

Ok, I made a sandwich with scraps of the fabric, the thin batting and a scrap of Timtex.
My Juki TL-98 handled it just fine for straight line stitching. I think I will lengthen the stitch a little. I haven't tried FM but have decided to just do straight lines on this purse.

I made 165 Fabric bowls with Timtex for a wedding reception, quilted everyone of them, using my Viking I use for most of my sewing. Timtex is easy to machine quilt. Put together a small (sandwich - make yourself a coaster) and try it out before working on the purse.

Almost finished...Did straight line quilting as it is such a busy pattern. Also using a piece of the Timtex on the bottom of the purse so that the inside has a solid bottom.

Glad it worked out for you. I tried using Timtex on a tote bag; I didn't have any trouble quilting it as I was just doing straight lines. However, I couldn't sew across the corners like you're supposed to and I tried 3 different machines. Ended up giving the unfinished project to the cat to sleep on. And she doesn't like it because it's so hard!
