Time for a break

When I spent 1/2 an hour or more fussing with one seam...only to see that I have sewn it on the wrong side of my section and upside down!!! Well, it's time for a break. I'll take a picture. This is too good not to actually see. What was I thinking? Didn't I see that it was on the wrong side upside down? Good grief!

Too funny! Except I've done the same thing time and time again! We must suffer from I don't know what every now and then :D

Some days are like that.

yep, sometimes a long break is necessary!

That happens to me a lot when i am at all day sewing meetings or a weekend retreat! For me it seems to “happen” on the easiest blocks! One time my quilting buddy and i were at a 3 day retreat and both making quilts with the Split Decision pattern, which is kinda like a rail fence with an extra step. You wouldnt believe how many times we both had to tear out what we had sewn - happened so many times that we laughed so hard we were in tears and provided a lot of comic relief for the rest of the group!

at least your's is with a complex block! Yesterday I was barreling along on a simple floating star in a box (so it's self sashed) and so proud that I had 3 blocks finished (last Sat.) and the other 17 all ready for the self-sashing--and realized when I'd trimmed them down I cut to 9" sq instead of 9.5"! Had to take apart the 3 finished ones and cut them down too--it's just going to be a bit smaller!

Wish i could say that our blocks were hard - truth is they were super simple! Probably more simple than yours, if truth be told! We actually picked that particular pattern because it was easy so we could enjoy visiting and having fun at the retreat - so much for that, but we still had fun and nobody has forgotten our trials years later!

Sorry this happened to you but I think every one of us quilters has had a day like yours. I just walk away from the sewing room and focus on something else. When I go back things seem to just go great after a break.

I would count on it that most quilters have done the same things. I know I sure have and on more than one occasion. You are doing the best thing, taking a break and stepping back from it. I know how hard this is to do, take a deep breath and enjoy some chocolate.
