Your so welcome. Thanks for the thank you. I wondered if anyone liked the site as much as I did.

Just go to the "pictures" section and look around. You will find something to inspire you way before you find the end. Good luck dear!

With four to eight inches of more snow coming, I'm not thinking summer just yet, but how to stay warm here on Long Island....I'm crocheting a queen sized coverlet to snuggle under with my Valentine! Today, Feb. 14th, is our 39th Anniversary!! Happy ❤️ Day!!

Same here. It is supposed to be -20 by morning with snow hurricane force winds and snow squalls tonight.

Yikes Debbie C and donnajean, I guess I won't complain about my 40-50 degrees with clouds and rain then. But I too love thinking about a summer quilt. Has anyone ever done one with the top and flannel back only with no batting? I'm wondering how that might come out, it sounds like a good weight and still snuggly.

Interesting...I've never heard of counterpane quilts. I had to look it up.

Possible themes for a coverlet? How about thinking of Springtime, Summer & Sunshine! Bright, fresh colors.
Garden-y, flowers, butterflies, dragonflies, May baskets, bbq, patriotic, beachy, boats, two-color, or scrappy.

Perhaps do an easy pattern like a shadowbox, and let the fabrics do the work for you. :)

Thanks! Lots of good ideas. I'm thinking that BBQ = Ketchup, mustard and relish...tomato red, mustard yellow and pickle green. (I'm hungry already!) Dragonflies are a nice idea too. Going easy is a great idea. Think of all of the scraps one could use up in a hurry. No batting, no quilting, sew the top in one day and bind it the next day. Easy peasy!

If I wanted something "not so warm", I'd not buy or make a flannel back. Flannel is warm. Why would anyone make a summer quilt with flannel?
