tiny piece applique - help please!

Hello all,

While waiting for my sewing machine to get cleaned and fixed (yeah, it's back!) I did the two parrots below in applique. I used fusible interface, so they are already glued to the fabric.

My question is this .. how do I applique it? Most of the pieces are way to small (yeah, I should have thought of that before!)

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Marion

I would use a tiny zigzag

my question is - wall art or something that will be "handled"? If wall art just leave as is, other then yes tiny zig with invisible thread

Wall art lol. One of the things I'm thinking of doing is just a simple crosshatch with invisible thread. Some of the pieces are so small that my needle will only go down the middle.

Consider netting the whole piece. Outline all the coloured pieces and then quilt the remaining black. It will be very difficult for anyone to see the netting

I have a similar problem with a bom from MSQC. The usable appliqué pieces are so sn
mall and round I’m not sure how to go forward with it. I thought about just fusing them on then quilting the whole thing and calling it good.

I would do an outline straight stitch on the edges and raw edge applique. Yes there would be small pieces to go around but it would fix them down. You could match the thread color to the parrot color.

I do mine by hand with small blanket stitches.

I'm going to go with the netting option and then quilt it with invisible thread. It might not look that small in the pictures, but the parrots are 8 inches high ... very small!

Thanks for the suggestion

You could also overlay them with tulle and then sew around the outside with invisible thread as others have suggested.
