Just a thought for everyone -- when books are posted for sale here, I type the book name on Amazon.com. Sometimes Amazon.com will allow a free "preview" (a "look inside") of some of the pages. This allows me to get an idea of some of the projects in the book to see if I want to buy it from here!

Good idea

I love that about Amazon, and also Connecting Threads lets you look inside a book.

frugalfabrics 09-17-2011 01:19 PM

good idea - thanks.

Olivia's Grammy 09-17-2011 01:31 PM

Actually, Connecting Threads usually has MORE pics in their previews! I usually go there first, then to Amazon.

wartime jane 09-17-2011 02:02 PM

I also check amazon and Connecting Threads.

CT practically gives away the entire contents photo-wise.

quiltinggirl 09-17-2011 02:09 PM

Great tip!! Thank you for the suggestion.

nativetexan 09-17-2011 02:14 PM

yep, and connectingthreads.com does too.

GirlieWhirlie 09-17-2011 02:25 PM

Thanks for the tip. I often wonder if the picture on the front of the book will be the only quilt I like.

ghostrider 09-17-2011 02:32 PM

Google also has book previews of the contents.

craftybear 09-17-2011 03:21 PM

yes, I do that also, thanks for posting this tip with everyone

That is a problem for me as I can look at a pic and design my own. Is that stealing a design? I just purchase books for ideas to make my own designs.

I do that also...if Amazon doesn't have it however, just google it and at least you'll be able to read about what is in a book...Naomi

Bluehouse 09-18-2011 06:11 AM

Connecting Threads also has great book sales....one is going on right now. And they have a great preview of the books.

betty jo 09-18-2011 06:34 AM

Did know you could do that on Amazon...will try it out, thanks for the tip.

Sallyflymi 09-18-2011 09:17 AM

I do this and THEN enter the data on my local library's website and request the book for free through interlibrary loan. Then I get to check out the WHOLE book for free before buying on Amazon.com. At $24-$29 bucks a book these days, I really gotta want it to buy it.

The Quiet Quilter 09-18-2011 04:15 PM

Welcome from northern
Indiana. Thanks for the tip.
I didn't know that. Hugs, Sharon

Quiltinelaine 09-18-2011 04:25 PM

Thanks for the tip: Always like to see in the inside and check it out first:

Yellow Bird 09-18-2011 05:59 PM

I do the Amazon and local library thing.

What I like about Amazon is all the people who review books. Many times the reviews will determine IF I purchase a book - new or used.

bikermom 09-18-2011 08:39 PM

Wonderful idea! Thank you!

Annaleehunter 09-18-2011 08:58 PM

I do think we should pay others for their work.

trisha 09-18-2011 09:27 PM

And a lot of timees Amazon is a lot cheaper

ljs317 09-19-2011 08:44 AM
