Tips for pressing fabric with metallics
I am working on a lantern quilt. Most of my fabrics have some metallic shine. How do I keep that shine when pressing? Thanks for your help.

I have a Teflon pressing sheet that I use on iffy fabrics.

Asians are one of my favorite type of fabrics. I have yet to purchase one where the metallic became unshiny with pressing.

Most of today's metallics keep their shine when pressing. If the metallic feels kind of rubbery (used to have some with tiny multicolored stars) BEWARE, any heat takes out the shine. Test first. Today's fabric, I use a press cloth and medium hot iron.

Press only from the back.

I have a bunch of the new Northcott Shimmer fabrics I was going to start using in a month or so. Do I need to be careful with them?

I have used asian fabrics and never had the metallic change with pressing. I pressed normal cotton settings, no cloth so i would not do anything special

I have been quilting with metallic fabrics for a few decades and have never had any issue with pressing the same way I press any other cotton fabric.
