Titanium Topstich Needle with applique & Knits????
 

Can I use a titanium topstitch needle when securing an applique with satin stitch on knit fabric? I will fuse the applique to the knot fabric with heat & bond and also use stabilizer. I know you are suppose to use a ball needle on knits, but am hopeful that using the fusible web and stabilizer would alleviate the need for the ball needle.

I'd try it on some scraps, and then launder the sample. You don't want to cut the threads in a knit, it's stablized so it won't 'run' but you might get some fuzzies where the threads were cut and have come loose.

I use the smallest needle possible when satin stitiching... that may stitches close together you want the smallest hole possible. I would still use a ball point needle as the more rounded tip will help in to not pierce the fiber and run the knit. Sometimes the runs do not show up until the first wash. A ball point needle is designed to push the fibers aside rather than pierce through the fiber.
