I'm in the middle of trying to get all my sewing stuff organized and in boxes for my new room that's in the making. I don't think it's all going to fit. :( I don't know how I'm going to get this to work. I keep finding more and more fabric. I think I've got a problem.

Maride 11-23-2010 12:54 PM

Great problem to have.

Momof3Es 11-23-2010 12:55 PM

JUNEC 11-23-2010 12:56 PM

lol...ya, I think that's me. I've got fabric every where. I never had a designated spot for it so it took over my house. I'd like to have my house back, that's why I'm turning my attatched garage into my sewing room(lol who needs a garage anyways???) I like my house when it's not cluttered and is clean. I seem to never have that anymore. I had a house fire about 6 years ago and had to start from scratch(luckily my machine were ok, but no fabric made it). I have mannaged to FILL this house up. I now have three sewing machines, 2 sergers, all the stuff to do embroidery, and fabric everywhere. I just found a box that was nothing but buttons and bias tape...I'm never going to use it all. I need to start a pile and start getting rid of the stuff I know I'll never use.

lol...not only do I sew, but scrapbook, do jewelry and any other little thing that I can learn as time goes on. And I just can't buy what I need, I over buy for all of it. I just can't wait for my room to be done. I want it all in one room and organized. That will make me REALLY happy.  I have two of the tall book shelves that are stuffed with scrapbooking stuff(not including the stickers and all the punches and stuff that are all in the plastic drawers. It's crazy. I'm addicted to crafting!!!!

there is a wonderful section on this board called "classifieds" and there are many fabric buyers that have your same problem LOL We would gladly help you get rid of your overage while we try to find new places to hide our purchases from you :)

I think I might be doing that. I have two small boxes already that I know I don't want. Maybe I can get some pictures up tonight. I think my mom has some boxes too...I'll have to run to her house and take some of hers.

It's simple: You need a bigger room.

Oh trust me...if I had the money I'd be adding on to the house, but we had to many pay cuts in the last two years to afford to do it. For now, I get the garage as my sewing room. I'm counting down the years until my kids move out so I can use their rooms too...lol. I've got a while, my youngest is 3.

annette1952 11-23-2010 04:01 PM

That is a problem that I wished I had! LOL I am thankful with what I do have though. Good luck with your sale!

I never really realized how much I had until now. Everytime I go anywhere, I buy more.

MissM 11-23-2010 04:45 PM

Wish I could say that. :D

sueisallaboutquilts 11-23-2010 05:10 PM

I've been in the process of de-stashing and while it's a big job it's worth it. I don't miss one fabric I passed on to someone else!
And it I get too low on stash there's lots more to buy lol
I am seriously on a fabric diet though b/c I want my room to be useful to me and not just a storage room :D

mrspete 11-23-2010 07:44 PM

pssst. You CAN consider us family and share, hee heeheeee

lpsewing 11-23-2010 07:54 PM

I too am going through years of fabric stash/piles.
I've decied to post F/S ads on this site, terrific respones.
Onto mailing the endless stash became another issue, not enough floor to walk on @ times.

lol, now I know what you mean!!! I seriously, have fabric and sewing stuff hiding everywhere. I have bins to go through tomorrow. I just went through some of it tonight. Glad I have the week off so I can get rid of some of this. I really do need it to all fit in one room.

I'm in Iowa...that's down south of Minnesota...a bit warmer here, and I think we may miss the storm rolling in today! That's even better. So post that stash and let the best state win!!! LOL!!

OmaForFour 11-24-2010 05:50 AM

You and I have the exact same setup. I do however have a Pennsylvania Blanket Chest in there which has a deep chest on top and a drawer in the bottom. I store in there as well as two plastic tubs in the closet.

I have taken over the "guest room" to store fabric and completed tops--trying to get it all organized by color, and type--since I have quite a bit of decorator/suiting/upholstery fabric, etc. I was going great guns till I found SEVEN more boxes I forgot I had---now I'm out of totes and cabinet space. there is now only a path to the bed, and I still have to clear off the bed as DD and GKs are coming today---cannot believe how mu;ch I had stashed in closets and corners!
I am going to put some on here soon!

I converted a spare bedroom into my fabric room. I lined the walls with floor to ceiling shelves and have one row going down the middle of the room. We are in the process of converting our living room into my sewing area. We spend most of our evenings in the family room anyway so we really do not need the living room.

Annz 11-28-2010 05:44 PM

I think we all have that problem.
