Try replacing the needle first, making sure that the needle is inserted correctly (including all the way up). Are you threading with the presser foot in the UP position?

I place a screwdriver blade under my needle and gently push up until it gets up all the way. I then hold with my left hand until I can get the needle screw tightened.

Are you following directions closely for which direction the thread comes from the bobbin? Sometimes that will make a difference. Also, have you matched top thread to bottom thread? Some machines won't like certain threads. And is the needle the correct size for your machine/the thread? All said, I believe the problem is in the bobbin. Could be wrong.

make sure the thread is going into the proper side of the needle i had that problem with a machine i had. if the needle threads from left to right or right to left instead of front to back.

(1)does the downloaded manual say if the bobbin should be metal or plastic?
(2) Is the bobbin thread suppose to go to the right or left? (right => when the flat side of the bobbin faces you, the thread hangs down on the right side and bobbin plus thread looks like the number 9. Left=> when the flat side of the bobbin faces you, the thread hangs on the left side).
I teach sewing to kids and these are the two major problems in every class.
