Tracing wheel
I think I need to dig through my old stuff to find my pattern tracing wheel. You know that little one with the teeth that worked with tracing paper to do patterns for clothing? I just watched a paper piecing video on YouTube where she uses it by putting her rotary ruler on the lines for a paper piecing paper pattern and then goes down all the lines before sewing. It helps to accurately fold the pattern to make sure the fabric is placed correctly and for easier paper removal after sewing. Now I just need to find mine!

thanks for the tip

They can still be purchased.
But who wants to do that if we know we have one (or more) somewhere around? |
What a good idea! I have a couple of those. I'll have to try that.

What a great idea! Now if someone can find mine I'll be all set :D

I've done that with some of my paper piecing, it does help especially when you use heavier weight paper (i.e. copy paper). I've also found that if you place a ruler (I use my add a quarter plus ruler) right at the seam it holds the thread and fabric in place so it's easier to pull the paper up.

That is a great tip and I even know where mine is!!!

Mine is probably easy to find. I don't do paper piecing.

Oh, goody, Amazon has them, Clover ones and the Dritz ones, maybe more ! I'd never heard of one! I always run the end of a small knitting needle down the line on my freezer paper pattern! But I can only do one line at a time because pressing the seams takes out all my folds! That would be a great help! Dritz seems to have smaller points and I think that's the one I'd like.
So glad you posted! |
