Tracking down a mailed quilt....
 

My birdbrain has been overtaxed the last few months, and I only have myself to blame for this predicament.

I mailed a baby quilt to one of my best friend’s daughter in another state. I followed the tracking, and it was delivered 2 days ago. I was a bit surprised that the Mommy never let me know she received the quilt, so I sent a text asking if it arrived....I was afraid someone nabbed it from her front porch. She never received the package...I sent her a screenshot of the tracking, and low and behold, I mailed it to her old address. Sigh. My return address was on and in the package, and my email is on the quilt label. Mommy is going to try to contact current owner. I am hoping they popped it in the mail back to me. Sigh. Any suggestions?

Hopefully the people who live there now will notify the post office that the package was delivered incorrectly. Since it was not addressed to them (i.e. it had another person's name on it), they are obligated to try to return it. If all else fails, you might try going through the post office for help. Jill, I think between the new mother and the post office the package will be returned to her. As Dunster said- it's the responsibility of the new house dweller and the post office to rectify. Good luck!

Cross your fingers, sit on them and wait. The post office is so slow these days with mail that is correctly addressed. Packages with problems can take forever to get straightened out. I hope I am wrong and your package shows up soon, but it will be a miracle.

It took two months for two letters I sent across town (to the wrong address) to get back to me. Here's hoping you get yours back.

The same thing happened to me several years ago - however package was not delivered. New mother (a friend of my daughter) was most upset about not informing us of recent move. Told my daughter to tell new mom not to worry that I would make a new quilt - new mother's have more than enough to be concerned about. Eventually post office tracked down package and it was delivered. I got the best thank you note I ever received. And new mom even sent me flowers on the following Mother's Day. She more than made up for all the thank yous never written.

Hopefully, the owners of the previous address will be kind enough to either send it back to you or find the recipient that it is supposed to go to. I did that once with sending some gift cards to my granddaughter. I sent them to the town they used to live in and to this day I have not gotten them back nor did my granddaughter ever receive them. Oh well, my error and someone else enjoyed the gift cards. I try and be more careful now.

I called my granddaughter to confirm her new address before I mailed a baby quilt from Michigan to New Mexico. I didn't trust my address book - I think I will start dating changes. I mailed it on Wednesday and she received it on Saturday.

I hope the quilt gets delivered.
