Transparent Thread

For those of you who use it do you have trouble with it breaking frequently? I had a spool of it and I don't remember where I got it but it didn't break. Everything I've tried since then has sewn for a little bit and then snapped. JoAnn's didn't have much selection so I bought the Coats and Clark brand. Any suggestions?

I have been using YLI without problems.

I use Aurifil and have never had a problem.

Have you put it on a thread stand and moved it a little distance from the machine?

I have a newer Bernina and I had the same problem. The dealer told me to use good quality monofiliment like YLI. And he also told me to slow way down which is a problem as I have a lead foot. Good luck!

I get mine from Superior Threads. Never had a problem.

I use YLI without problems. However, did you remember to reduce upper thread tension?

Peckish 03-03-2014 10:00 PM

Yes, as Prism said, loosen your upper tension. A lot.

I generally use the Superior Threads brand, have also used YLI and Aurifil all with success. loosen top tension- use a fine needle, and slow down- it is the high speed that often stretches and breaks the thread. visit the Superior Threads website. they are a great resource with lots of information about all the different threads, needles, what to use when and for what- lots of tips, hints, help and charts you can print off telling what thread/needles are best for what. a good place to refer to. :)
