Traveling to Dallas Tx next week

I will be spending some time in Dallas and have most evenings booked with Wicked, Big Daddy Voodoo Band and a retirement party! Our days are pretty open and we have a car. Can you guess what my next question will be? Does anyone know of a quilt shop that shouldn't be missed? I've heard of an art district that we will try to find. Also if there are some restaurant/cafes/eateries you recommend, I'd love to get their names! Thanks for any help!

There is one called Cabbage Rose in Ft. Worth and one called Fabrics Fanatics in Plano if you have time to make a short trip there.

Quilt Country is in Lewisville. The DFW area is blessed with a variety of quilt stores. Enjoy your trip.

We have four quilt shops in Arlington. Lone Star House of Quilts, Quilt Among Friends, Magnolia Quilts and Peggy's Quilts.
All four are great and very different from each other. All four have very friendly and helpful staff.

You might want to check out Golden d'Or on Harry Hines in Dallas. It is a treasure trove of all sorts of fabrics from drapery and upholstery fabric to satins and laces for prom dresses to quilting cotton to you name it. Pricing ranges from $1/yd on up to way out there on some of the specialty fabric. And they have a back room with heavily discounted fabric of all sorts. Plus a section of flat fold fabric that may be remnants or seconds. Do be conscious of what quality you are looking for as they have the whole gamut. Never know what you will find there. Have fun!!!

I'm not much help in the fabric shop department, but just wanted to comment on Wicked. Have you seen it before? It's my favorite! I've seen it six times and am just waiting for it to return to see it again. Enjoy!!!!

If you love batiks you definitely need to go to Fabric Fanatics in Plano, it's only about a 15 minute drive from Dallas. www.fabricfanatics.com
