Treasures

Went to an estate sale Monday. All that was for sale that day was quilting fabrics and supplies. Among all the rooms full of fabric there were LOTS of Thimbleberries fabrics in 4 and 5 yard cuts which I couldn't resist. But the best treasure of all was a little flat cardboard box with pieces for a Dresden Plate quilt. The cardboard pattern was in the bottom of the box and enough pieces, pinned together in stacks of 18 to make 22 Dresden Plate blocks. It is all what appears to be original 30s fabrics, hardly any two alike! I nearly fainted when I saw the price..........$3....!!! What a treasure!!!!

I'm going to a yard sale tomorrow morning that advertised "quilting stuff". Hope I'll be half as lucky. Congratulations on your find!

fien777 04-17-2013 08:53 AM

I'm jealous!!!!!!:p

ArtsyOne 04-17-2013 08:55 AM

I'm jealous too, but I'm so glad that these items found a loving home.

pinkcastle 04-17-2013 09:04 AM

Good for you! Enjoy your new treasures!

AliKat 04-17-2013 09:47 AM

You are indeed fortunate.

We also get a reminder to make a 'quilting/sewing' will to put in our trust papers or will. I would surely grieve in the grave if my family just got rid of my things. I have someone designated to take care of this for the family.

luvstoquilt 04-17-2013 02:20 PM

I am salivating!

quilttiger 04-17-2013 04:51 PM

I am drooling! Enjoy every bit of it!

barri1 04-17-2013 04:52 PM

I wish they had those kind of sales here.

Nammie to 7 04-17-2013 04:53 PM

Wish we had that type of sale in this area!! Enjoy your treasures, lucky gal.

valleyquiltermo 04-17-2013 04:59 PM

OMG that is a great find you lucky gal. I better get a Quilting will made out so my family don't give my stuff away at a yardsale and instead give it to other quilters.

GemState 04-18-2013 04:46 AM

I have been concerned about what will happen to all my fabric, unfinished quilt tops, tools, etc. but I am so thrilled with what I got that I hope whoever gets my 'stuff' will be as thrilled!! (And I do know the woman's name is Sally and she is in a care center with one machine and a little fabric.) I have given my family 'directions'.

Sometimes if you know of an upcoming estate sale, you can ask for a preview. Often they will allow it so they don't have to spend so much more time keeping it open. You may have to pay more but you still save compared to going to the stores. I'm previewing one this evening and will have cash ready, as always. Also I take it with me at the time.

QandE2010 04-19-2013 06:57 AM

WOW, great price. Be sure to post pictures!!

That's going to be my stash that is the find when my daughters are selling everything I have when I pass on to the " big quilting store in the sky" lololol !!!!! They have NO CLUE to what and how much I have !!! Maybe I should just get a list of fellow quilters in the area who want to be contacted when I pass on hopefully on a tennis court somewhere. lol Hopefully that will be when I am in my 90s and have wittled down the stash a bit1!!! lol

Mariposa 04-19-2013 12:53 PM

I told my husband to have a 'Quilter's Sale' when I'm gone. I told him to advertise in neighboring towns, also. I have a room stuffed to the brim with all things quilt-related. He will make a pretty penny off of my machines and fabric and all my quilting stuff!

joyce888 04-19-2013 04:50 PM
