Treated myself today!

Out with the old - in with the new! I am a New Englander. We like to get every bit out of what we have. But it's a new year and I'm starting on a new quilt. Broke out a brand new rotary cutting blade. Why don't I do this more often???! Gosh - but isn't it wonderful to start fresh.

I was cutting fabric for a 10" tumbler quilt yesterday. I put a new blade in my rotary cutter and the job was delightful. Why do I wait so long? It was so much easier with a new blade.

Funny I agree why on earth do we wait so long.

At the first skipped cut, I change the blade. I'm worth it! I use to see there was one class of milk or juice left in the container and I didn't take it thinking the kids or DH may want it. How many times did I see them pour the last glass and never once think I or anyone else may want it? Not one time! I quit guilting myself over having things when I wanted them, including a new rotary blade, even when there still may be some cutting life left.

Sounds like a good plan , I too wait way too long to change blades. Then when I do I ask myself the same question. I am going to ring in the New Year the same as you and treat myself.

I also wait too long to change rotary blades. Not very smart since I have 10-15 in my drawer.

I don't "treat" myself too often either, but I DO change the rotary blades at the first sign of "dullness". Of course, I don't actually throw them away. I put them in my craft stash to use on paper, foam, etc.

It is time for me to put in a new blade, but alas, there are no more. Have to go to Joann's this week and use my coupon!!

Thats the first thing I do when starting a new quilting project, along with oiling my machine and changing the needle. Its just habit....

I do too! There is always another way to use them.
