Triangulations?

I just received my triangulations software. I have looked on the internet for info, but not finding what I need. I would like to make 4” quarter square triangle blocks. How do I determine what size HST and QST to print?
I am proud of myself for figuring out how to access the files on the program....baby steps! Haha.
Thank you!

ETA: I figured it out! Thanks.....

I love that CD! ❤️ I almost always use Triangulations for HSTs and QSTs - so precise! Triangles used to be my nemesis because of the bias, but foundation paper solves that. I hope you'll love it, too.

I just finished a top made of 4,608 HSTs - I used Edyta Sitar's foundation papers because they're longer and they fit onto the long edge of fat quarters, but it's the same idea. There's a picture of my quilt in my photos - it's called "Cherry Cordials"

HSTs don't scare me any more! Have fun with it! 👍

Your quilt is gorgeous! I have used a few different rulers to make HST and QST, but I am currently participating in a double feathered star sew along, and the instructor recommended Triangulations. They are wonderful!

I have some QST’ grids printed, but I am having a brain block as far as cutting the triangles. Grands are here for remote learning...I will try again this evening!

I absolutely love that Log Cabin quilt and colors.

Try cutting squares of 5 1/4". I haven't done anything with triangulations.

I'll bet you've got it all figured out, now - the directions make it seem more complicated than it is, I think. And who can concentrate with grandbabies around to fuss over? 🥰

I just finished my first feathered star last month - it was the last piece in a quilt that had been sitting here for years in pieces, waiting for me to tackle that center. It was a BOM Block Party series with Eleanor Burns that turned into the book, "All Star Quilts."

I kept a photo album of the process on flickr - Triangulations figures heavily into those pictures, HSTs and QSTs! 😄 Triangulations and starch - man, I starched every scrap into submission on that quilt! https://www.flickr.com/photos/thepol...h/13310766703/

I didn't get pictures of the final assembly and feathered star, but I'll probably take a lot of pictures when it's quilted.

Hope to see yours, too!

Your photo album is wonderful! Thanks for sharing.
I have my double feathered star completed...I thought I wanted to do a twisting ribbon border, which is made with quarter square triangles on one side of the block and a HST on the other side. I know I am mixing up names...I did figure it out, but now I think I may be headed in a different direction with the borders. Haha. I ordered some fabric, so I have a few days to think about it.

I'm so glad you posted this on the main board too, where it caught my attention. I just love your block! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/heart.gif Now, I want to try it, too - this board is dangerous, sometimes! 😄

That twisted ribbon border sounds interesting, too.

You print out grids and sew along the marked lines, then cut them apart. There are HSTs in size increments of 1/16” !
Also quarter square triangles and flying geese. It made making 1/2” HST very easy and accurate got me!

thank you for the information. seems like it would provide precise piecing.

Oops, looks like it's out of stock, right now.

I purchased the newer version, 4.0 because it includes HST grids by the 1/16”....may come in handy for triple feathered star! 😁. And I purchased online from Amazon.

I just noticed last night that there's a 4.0 version and I may buy that one, too - for the jelly roll strips! That would be cool.

I am a big fan of the Triangulations program, and use it all the time. It is a way to generate HST or QST papers to print yourself at home. Very well marked too. Then you sew up sheets of the units, it is the most speedy and accurate way of making HST or QST units. There is a test page you can try:
https://greenwichminus8.files.wordpr...ons-sample.jpg
https://www.bearpawproductions.com/s...ngulations.htm

You can get the program on Amazon.com now too:
https://www.amazon.com/Bear-Paw-Tria.../dp/1936207168

When I feel like sewing but not thinking I generate sheets and make HST's, throw the completed units in a drawer and when I have lots I just put them up on a wall and start designing. Great for baby quilts!

Just got my Triangulations yesterday! I am so looking forward to using it!! Hope I can figure out how to initiate & use the program!

costumegirl 04-27-2021 04:38 AM

OMG! What a game changer!! So easy to find the correct size to print! Thank you to all who recommended this product! I know I will be using it all the time so that the results will be as accurate as can be!
