I would love seeing the Amish quilts.

Lancaster PA is the best place to see the Amish and see their quilts. If you would care to, type in American Quilters Society in Goggle and get the list of all the shows in the states, maybe you could plan to make more than one. Another "quilty" place to visit is Paducah Kentucky during the big show there which is held in April. There you will see quilt from all over the world and not be far from Amish country too.

My quilt friends and I have been twice to Lancaster County to visit the Amish areas. We had a great time. We went to the Lancaster Quilt Show at Easter on year and managed to get rooms just across the road from the golf course where it was being held. Made it so easy. The other time we were in one of the Best Western places. The very first time I went with a group and we stayed at Harvest Drive motel in Intercourse and we could walk down to Zimmermans the big Mennonite shop,the Amish Museum of Quilts and all the other quilt shops in the village. If you are near Ohio in August there is the Mennonite Relief Auction in Kidron. Lots of things to see in the area.

I was in Lancaster over the weekend! I was there for an Amish/Mennonite quilt/furniture auction to benefit Haiti. The quilts were amazing and the hand made furniture was absolutely gorgeous. I'll add some pictures to give you an idea of their beautiful work.

Kitchen Kettle Village is fun to walk through, has many little shops and a great restaurant called the Kling House. Across the street from there is the Old Country Store - a wonderful quilt shop. They have a great selection of fabric and a large display of quilts for sale. Upstairs from there is the People's Place Museum. It's very small, but nice to walk through for some history.

These are both on Route 340 and if you head down the road toward Bird in Hand, you'll see many other quilt shops.

If you like Christian shows, there's the Sight and Sound Theater, which puts on nice shows, usually with live animals. There's also the American Music Theater, which has all kinds of shows from singers to comedians.

Shopping did you say? Lancaster is absolutely loaded with tons of outlet stores and regular stores all along Route 30.

We go July 4th to the Kutztown Fair and they have a huge warehouse filled with Amish Quilts !! But as has been said anywhere you decide in the Amish area you will find tons of shops and interesting and relaxing places. Please tell us of your adventure and pics too !!! Enjoy
