But my dog (her picture is my avatar) thinks that it is hers and wants to lay on top of it. Does anyone else's fur baby do this?

Mine wants to be covered with them if I am not doing them on my frame.
She is the brown one in my avatar. She has a denim & flannel one, she likes covered with when curled in my chair.
Just gotta love them, they like our work no matter what ! :-)

If anyone has a fur baby who doesn't do this, please let me know! I've never quilted a quilt when a dog was sitting on it or under it. :D

Mine think anything I'm working on is a distraction-they do what they can to get between me and my projects!

No exactly what you are going through. If I sit in an armchair my King Charles Cavalier automatically assumes that she must sit in my lap no matter what I am doing. If I sit at the machine/computer/doing anything else when I should be paying attention to her, she whines and if ignored, barks until I give in and cuddle her. No peace for the wicked!

my cat is in love with my quilts, or any quilts for that matter. If I'm hand quilting one and set it down to go eat dinner or fold laundry (much rather be quilting!) I take it out of the hoop and usually fold it so it's not a big lump. Never fails, before I even take 5 steps she jumps up from wherever she is, even if it's another quilt, and curls up on top. It's sort of like she's watching me so she can have the best seat in the house! I was going to make a small quilt for her but I have a feeling she'd only lay on it while I'm working on it and once it's done she'd move on to the next project

I know exactly what you mean. My Chihuahua wants on my left side - my poodle wants the right side. There I am, trying to sew with my elbows hugging my sides :-D Gotta love em!
