Does anyone have a chart for the different sizes of how wide strips should be cut for HST regarding making them with the tube method. Thanks.

Do you mean the way where you cut the squares, put them right side together, sew around the edges then cut them apart like a big x?

Tube method to me is 2 strips of fabric (usually WOF) sewn on both sides then cut in a triangle from each sewn edge.

Rough estimate is minus 1/2 inch the width of the strip is the size of the 1/2 square triangle.

If you start with a 4 1/2 inch strip your square will be 4 inches UNFINISHED.

3 inch strip will make a 2 1/2 inch UNFINISHED square.....

Does this help?

also sew 2 1/2 strips together say 8[ nb sew from alrernate ends[ so it will not twist]----then sew R S T so you have a tube -- ok -- then lie flat straighten one end cut 2 1/2 inch strips ----unpick a seam [each strip different] lay side buy side +sew or use to frame a block --- playtime!!!

I have seen lots of tube quilts here mad with 4= strips. I make mine with 3 strips. 2 are equal.
A= 3" (cut size)
B= 3"
C= 5.5"
Sew Strip A to B. Reverse directions. Sew B to C
Sew A to C, with the right side of the fabric on the inside of the tube.

You cut lining up the 45* marker on your ruler with the outer seam, then reverse and cut from the opposite side. You will get 2 different square blocks, which you can use various ways.

The kind of tube quilts I do

Want to thank everyone for all of your helpful suggestions etc. Here are a couple of pics of a pillow case I did yesterday using the Tube Method for HST. I still need to perfect things a little more.

Thanks again everyone. I just love this Quilting Board!!! :) :)

I posted a chart for the measurements before but it was deleted. I'll pm you.

the cart exceeds the max characters in pm. I'll post it again. I don't know why it was deleted.
