Thanks, this is one I really want to do!

Quilting_inthe_Rain 11-19-2011 01:43 PM

I've never seen this technique - thanks for posting the video - this is on my to-do list! Love projects that look complicating but are really simple. Plus it uses jelly rolls, even better!

EmbQuilt 11-19-2011 02:02 PM

Missouri star quilt co has a tube quilting technique ...I am going to click on yours to see if it's similar

This is what I'm working on, except I turned them into wallhangings. I am adding buttons as ornaments and presents.

Thats super adorable. I will have to try that for next year.

Made a tube quilt earlier this year, in blacks and white, will post a pic when I get back from visiting grandkids (camera is packed). I haven't put a border on it yet.

Make tube table runner. Turned out real cute. I like the pattern using the alternating white strips.

It is fun! I have the strips sewn and cut...and it sits too! Another UFO!

lizzyq 11-19-2011 08:50 PM

Here's another quilt that I must do. Thank you for pointing it out to us!

Minister 11-19-2011 09:16 PM

Wow! I have got to try both of these out. Also the stain glass one. I hope they are as simple as they look.

Blueyeswv 11-21-2011 04:08 AM

thanks, i really like this, seems so simple..will give it a go

Judith 11-21-2011 04:16 AM

They should label this technique with a "Warning this technique is addictive" sign. I started with one "just for fun". Three
quilts later, I'm still loving it! Have fun (and I am sure that you will!)

lovedquilts 11-21-2011 04:32 AM

I have made several of these. There is a specialty ruler and patterns book for this method. They are pretty easy and the results are stunning

Thanks for the link. I made a string quilt using this technique a number of years ago. It goes really fast and it's simple to do...Love the results as well. Be sure to post a pic of your quilt top when you're finished with it.

Janet My 11-21-2011 04:39 AM

Funny, I'm working on that same quilt... Love Missouri Star Quilt Company ideas. I love the table runner too. Now... to look for some Holiday fabric....

Normabeth 11-21-2011 05:49 AM

I made two quilts this way - they really come out nice

helenip 11-21-2011 05:57 AM

I just finished this quilt for my granddaughter's 16th birthday. I modified the layout by adding sashings and the outer border is a piano key type border. Loved the look of it. BTW, my granddaughter absolutely loves her quilt and, of course, that made grandma very happy...ya never know what will be a hit with teenagers. :) It was a lot of fun to make and easy.

BonniFeltz 11-21-2011 06:36 AM

I have done this method before but done for string piecing. I will have to try it this way to get the "boxed" effect. It was easy and quick just what you need for this time of year.

Shirls4sons 11-21-2011 06:57 AM

I really enjoyed the tutorial and saved it to my Quilting file. I will for sure use this method for a future quilt.

Rose_P 11-21-2011 07:33 AM

I think the colors in that quilt in the video are especially wonderful, but I have a problem with the fact that the blocks have no seam allowance and so all the points on the larger squares will be lopped when it is sewn.

yolanda 11-21-2011 07:48 AM

Picture - I tested and LOVE it!

This is a very fun pattern. I actually broke open an out of print jelly roll to make this... I am please with the blocks so far...

yolanda 11-21-2011 07:49 AM

I can't see your picture???

I think you'd better try it ... no lopped off corners/points if you cut and sew correctly ....... and cut and sew correctly for the subcuts.

EllenwoodGa 11-21-2011 10:18 AM

Another project to add to my todo list.

jarenie 11-21-2011 11:10 AM
