Just need a rough estimate on a Tumbler throw/lap quilt.

I'll do it scrappy and was wondering how many different fabrics I would need if I used FQ's. If I remember right, I can get twenty 5" squares out of one FQ. Will be using medium to dark fabric out of my stash.

TIA, Karen

I love fat quaters. But because it will be a scrappy quilt it will not matter really how much you get from a fat quater. I have used up to 200 different materials in a quilt. That is what make scrappy quilts so fun. :D

Granted, my math is a bit rusty but... if a fat quarter is 18" x 22" then you can only get 3 x 4 = 12 __5" blocks__ from one FQ??

I think I need more caffeine!

If you cut a 5" strip, and then cut your tumblers from that, up and down, you will waste less fabric.
