Do you cut a 6 inch strip then cut to 6 inch blocks or do you need fewer than this, or are you fussy cutting?? |
Interesting question! If the two sides are 6 inches, then you would use a 6 inch strip and squares. I have never purchased any, so I am not sure.
|
It depends
If you are sewing two turnovers together ( half sq triangle block), you will lose a 1/2 inch (seam allowances), so if you were to sew that to a square that is 6" the square would be too big. |
it was on a missouri star video for a pinwheel quilt...it says use the turnovers..all it ever says is a 6" triangle..guess i'll play with scraps!
|
Me too.

I'm pretty sure turnovers are 6" squares cut in half. Which, now that I think about it, would sew up to an odd size.
|
thanks everyone! I'll try and see what works!
|
My package of turnovers says "sew 2 together to make a 5" square".
I've been collecting them when Missouri Quilt puts them on the daily special. |
I love the pre cuts. I use turnovers to make pinwheel blocks.
|
I just made the quilt from the Missouri Star you tube and I bought the turnovers and then cut 6 inch squares in half for the background. Quick and easy quilt.
