Twilling

While at Quilt Market I saw the company, Of One Mind, from Eudora, Kansas demonstrating Twilling. Not being into hand sewing, and having this old embroidery stitch catch my eye was quite a shock. I am still practicing it to get it to look great, but I'm hooked. The quilt blocks they make and other designs were truly stunning. If you aren't familiar with the stitch, I recommend checking it out. I'm not affiliated with them, but will now be a customer. If anyone has old Twilling books, I'd live to know the names of the ones you like so that I can try to find more quilt blocks to do an entire quilt and not just use some large red work designs. Thanks!

There was a lady out near me that did Twilling. Her work was really pretty. She entered quilts in the fair a couple of times but I don't think the judge knew how to really judge her work since it never placed very high. It's been a couple of years since I've seen her or seen any of her work in the fair so I'm not sure she's still around.

Wow! Just looked it up online and it is beautiful! Maybe I'll try it on a pillow - something small to get my feet wet.

very cool. A stitch I have never seen before. It would be great to see a resurgence in hand work.

Great web site! Thanks for telling us about it.

It's a really easy stitch and kind of fun to do. You may be able to find more info if you Google the palestrina stitch. I'll be doing some on my son's graduation quilt.
