Twins on the way!
 

My niece is expecting TWINS in September. She doesn't want to know the sex before hand, so I'm at a loss for quilts that would work for "either / or".
I'd love to see any images you think would work, or maybe some of you have created! Thanks in advance, I know this is the best place to look for inspiration.

I spy quilts are always great for babies, but collecting the fabrics before Sep could be a challenge. There have been several swaps on the board hosted by mmonohon. Maybe you could join one of hers or host one of your own.

this is a link to a site that sells the fabric for I spy quilts. easier than trying to collect yourself. this is a cool idea

use greens, purples, teals, yellows. Any pattern you love would work. Or use Winnie the Pooh fabrics, or Beatrix Potter fabrics or 1930s fabrics. Don't limit yourself to pink or blue. And babies love high contrast, so you could do a black and white with a contrast color--say green for one and purple for the second.

I was thinking along these lines, but love this specific idea.

there are Baby Einstein fabric panels available that have a lot of black and white and red-those are the first colors they can see and the higher the contrast the better-anything you make will br greatly appreciated I'm sure and Congratulations GREAT AUNT

What color has she painted the room for the twins? That's always my big clue as to what the mother will like in the color ranges. There are lots of gender non-specific themes for babies. Alphabet blocks, numbers, teddy bears, nursery rhymes. The pages for soft baby books make great blocks. Baby animals make another great way to go. I personally hate to see a baby wrapped in a quilt that looks like it was pulled off of a sofa. I like a baby quilt to say baby in one way or another since babys are so special and happen so infrequently. Your niece will probably only have twin babies once in her life.

My niece is going to have twin boys in November. She (and my other nieces having babies this year) is painting her nursery and playroom gray. She is on bed rest until then, so I thought it would be entertaining for her to pick the pattern and fabrics. She bought two bundles of FQ from a line called Backyard Baby and another from Joel Dewberry on Etsy with aqua, green, orange, and yellow. She selected a stacked coins pattern for Baby A and New Waves for Baby B. She doesn't want to duplicate everything for the twins, she wanted similar. Different patterns, but both share many of the same prints, are strongly vertical in design, and have sashings in Kona medium gray. I've had to acclimate my eyes to accept the gray, but it is a good neutral for the brights.

I finished the straight-line quilting she selected on the Stacked Coins quilt last night. I love it-- it is just right for her.
