So happy to read that I am not the only one who struggles with this. I've gotten to where I just don't worry about it too much and do whatever seems best at the time. In the past, I've gone to opening up all the seams so it becomes a non-issue, but that sure slows me down.

If you go to Google, type in MSQC tutorials, it brings up all. Just cut and past the above link in your browser and it will open to the Chopped Block. Have fun.

Sometimes you just have to do that and then sometimes it does it by itself. When that happens to me I usually snip into the corner at an angle and then can press the seam that direction without any twisting. I have quilts that I have done that to that have been washed many times and never had an issue.

Hmmm yes do not worry about it. Sometimes it can not be avoided. I do this if needed. I do press meticulously to try and have them lay the correct way to avoid this.

I do longarm quilt, Innova 26, and have never noticed the twisted seam when quilting. I also quilt on my Janome 6500 and have never even noticed the twist from the top.

I do not clip as I would worry about it becoming vulnerable to tearing at the clipped place.
