Two color binding question

big question. I have a large quilt on my futon that my cats use. it's washed a lot. the two color binding has shifted. the back side binding is black and the other side is very colorful. now i see the colored one on the "black" side and vice versa. not happy.
i am using a patriotic quilt in my recliner and noticed it too has two color binding. do i need to take it and stitch near the outer edge of the binding to prevent it moving on me?? anyone had this problem? I doubt I will do anymore two color bindings!

The only 2 color binding I'm familiar with is the faux flange. You stitch in the ditch on the seam between the flange & the binding so it can't shift. You are obviously talking about something different...
OK. Googled it. Yes I can see how the binding may twist a bit through laundering & use. I think you are right, the only way to stabilize it would be with an additional row of stitching.

i searched and searched for info online. I can't believe no one has had this happen. perhaps it is just me. but I do think I will not do two color ever again. shame. thanks.

Hmm. I never heard of that.
Right now I'm binding a King that I just got back. I'm using different fabrics. I love that look.
But that's not what you're talking about.

sorry about that pic. not the one I was trying for. it is one side of the two color binding though.
this is two color binding. one for front and one for back.

I admire 2 colour bindings as they are not easy to get them perfectly even. If after all that work, they shifted? I would be disappointed too.

this is a Christmas quilt with two color binding.
the patriotic one is being fixed now. it has checkered fabric on the front part of the binding so I am hand stitching in that. doesn't look bad. better than machine stitches.

Check out Susan Cleveland online she as a technique that is called piping hot binding. It is a great way to do a two color binding and to make sure your binding is straight. She has a website, is on YouTube and Craftsy. Our guild had her for a workshop several years ago and I learned so much.

that is a one color binding with piping which I like, mainly because i won't be doing two colors of binding in future. thanks.
