Okay I'm making some placemats and I would like to know what type of batting I need to put inbetween the top and bottom of the fabric? I have some of that fusible pellon, regular batting I've used in my quilts and some of the insulbrite? What would you recommend? HELP!

I used fleece in my last ones, and I like it much better than the ones I made with batting.

I would use the cheapest one. They don't have to be cuddly like a quilt. The Insulbrite is good if you want it to double as a hot pad.

I use my warm and natural scraps. I also like the idea of using Insulrite if you are using hot dishes. I have also heard that some people like to use thin towels.

I use a very thin fleece for table toppers, coasters, mug rugs, and table runners, and place mats

i use "warm and white" from Joann's. I buy it on the bolt. This gives me just the right thickness but no bulk.
