OK, I did get the top pieced but before I buy the backing (will use same RK flannel) what do you use for the binding? Flannel or cotton??

Cute top! If it is a really good thick flannel, I might do single fold binding. If not I would do double fold cotton.

Flannel is going to fray more quickly than a cotton binding. Also, to help match the extra stretchiness of the flannel & because it's a baby quilt that is likely to be washed a lot, I would cut the binding on the bias.

Cute quilt!

I have made many flannel baby blankets and just use a folded over flannel cut straight.

I have used both. I don't cut bias unless there are curves to the quilt.
i use the fabric doubled so it is a bit thicker with flannel but not much

Another one who uses straight cut flannel for my binding. I would recommend cutting a small sample to check the width first. I have to cut the binding a bit wider to accommodate the thicker fabric.

I have a hard time mitering the corners with flannel binding. I would see if I could find cotton. But as suggested maybe a single layer of the flannel for the binding would work.. I will have to keep that in mind for my own quilts

That turned out really cute!

i'd be using the same fabric for the quilt so shrinkage isn't much different.
