What type knot do you use to tie a baby quilt?

What type knot should I use to tie a Baby Quilt?

I just tie a regular square knot, making sure the first loop(?) isn't too tight, and making sure the 2nd loop(?) is tight. Piece of cake

bobbi,
I just finished my knot quilt for my newest arrial grandbaby. It was a great suggestion.

A prayer with each tie. A prayer quilt. My church has a quilt guild i can not get to. At times they keep quilts out with long tie strings for any prayers as the quilt tieing is finished. Great idea!

My daughter in-law loved the idea and made the quilt more special.

for pulling the needle through, do you have one of those little rubber discs to help pull the needle through? sold in a package of two at quilt supply shelves. Was a great help !.

Remember when tying a square knot...its "right over left, then left over right..makes a square knot, nice and tight" -- from my Girl Scout days.

if you go the other way...I'm told its a surgeon's knot and it will slip. I don't know why.

I often wondered what I was doing wrong when tying a quilt. Now I will go "Over with right first makes it tight.
Thanks for the tip.

A surgeon's knot is what I used: left over right TWICE then right over left. Doing the first part over twice first prevents the knot from loosening while you tie the second part.

A surgeons know it twice left over right and twice right over left. They do not slip! I have used them on countless quilts and never lost a tie.
