I had a request for a baby quilt using peach, pink and brown. The baby's parents liked it a lot, but it reminded me of chocolate and Pepto Bismol.

It sounds like the colors of the Oregon Ducks ... football team for I believe the University of Oregon or is it Oregon University. Is that a possibility?

LOL..I feel your pain..I hate pastels and custom orders..I love to design my own..a few years ago..I said I'd make a crib quilt for a friends 1st Grandchild..then was told it was "Whinnie the Pooh" ONLY!!! Yuk..however..I found (on the net) old fashion Pooh look..soft pretty colors..I fussy cut and designed my own blocks..took me forever..I hated it..they loved it and paid me 50.00 more than I quoted..I lived through it!!

What about something entirely different - like an Eye Spy quilt! My granddaughter also had an ugly nursery, in my opinion, so I made a playmat with brights.

My worst for me was my first quilt. Blue/gray, burgundy and light blue. I don't care for blue, especially grayed tones. It was posted here in November. It has been given as a prayer quilt from our church congregation and the recipient loves it. |
i agree with the idea of incorporating at least one other color. i liked the idea of red, seems it would go well with mustard and olive and would make it much brighter and more child friendly.
whatever you do, i'm sure it will work out. (and i for one would not take the mother to be shopping for the fabric unless she is paying for it or was one of my daughter or daughter in laws...granddaughters...) |
Most color combinations can be made to work - but some sure need more work than others. :roll:
