Our guild has an ugly fabric challenge also. We get together in a group of 3-5 or so and the keeper of ugly fabric chooses the fabric for us. We can use any other fabrics we want but we have to use all or most of the ugly fabric in the quilt. We have so many wonderful quilts from the challenge. We make them for our chairity projects. The only ugly fabric has just not been grouped with the right pretty fabrics yet. Some fabric is just hard to picture in a quilt, but when it is an assignment, we buckle down and get to work and magic happens.

How about tearing it up into strips and making a wrapped cord fabric bowl?

Putting it in the trash is a sin and I would hesitate to dump it on another quilter (do we ever say no to fabric?) and it seems uncharitable to put it in a charity/thrift shop.

So was I pleased when I spotted this!

What is that on your avatar? Sure is pretty.

It is a part of a photo of a jardeniere by William Morris in the aqua blue/turquoise colourway. I am very lucky in that I was given one, albeit slightly damaged, as a birthday present one year. It sits in the living room with an amaryllis in it.
