Sorry that happened to your quilt. I always give my quilt away before washing it, this is making me wonder.

Did this happen after quilting? Have never seen this before.

Definitely try washing the quilt again in plain water and spin it out. Put in some color catchers to be sure no fabrics are bleeding. Then find a carpeted floor you can stick pins into. Lay down a sheet or 2 to protect your carpet just in case. Start in each corner and see if you can stretch "block" the quilt back into a square. Then pin every couple of inches. Puts some fans to blowing on it until completely dry. THEN I'd resort to taking the border off if blocking didn't work. Hey! I just figured out a good reason not to get hardwood floors.

I was thinking the only way to fix would be to cut out the blue border and reattach the outside border to the purple inside border and do a kinda quilt as you go seam. I have used this batting (30 yd roll for my last 12 quilts, so I know it's not the batting. I thought the blue border fabric was really thin, but it is David's Textiles quilting cotton and came from LQS and thought it would be OK. The batiks in the center are from Connecting Threads and the big border batik came from Hancock here in town. The back is the same as the wide border and it is fine. Thanks for all the feedback and I will cut out the blue and reattach the wide border. Wish me luck and I will post when done.
