Hello dear quilters, I wold love to be able to make a quilt using this block. (I'll attach the photo) The problem is, I don't have a pattern or I'm not smart enough to figure it out. Can someone please help me out? I will gladly pay for the pattern or if anyone can direct me to a website that has it. I will be eternally grateful. Thanks,

This kind of looks like a version of x's and o's. If you google that, there are all kinds of images and tutes. Good luck. I do like the pattern.

I think this will help you: http://malinisquilts.blogspot.com/20...-os-quilt.html

I have Quilt Assistant and looking at the picture, it could be strip pieced, sewing a colored strip, white strip, colored strip. Cut into triangles and sew together.
|
Could you make square blocks, 3" sq (or whatever size you like) in middle and then a contrast border, and another border of middle fabric, then cut them diagonally and reposition the triangles to form the cross, just a thought, should have tried it before offering advice I guess, Nanajen

Missouri Star Quilt Co has a tutorial for one very similar called Summer in the Park. http://quiltingtutorials.com/all/sum...t-jelly-rolls/

This block is in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Vol 5
Angela Pingel is the creator of the block shown. Here is her blog: http://cuttopieces.blogspot.com/2012...cks-vol-5.html |

I see two options.
I always look for the seam lines, so I enlarged the picture (and apologies to the picture owner). The smaller block unit could be equilateral triangles (60 degrees) cut from a 3 strip strip set that was color-white-color. Eight sewn together will make the block. (oops, I missed a green line) This would leave bias edges all around the outside of the blocks (quarter and larger one) The other option I see is that it was pieced like Summer in the Park - there's a Missouri Quilt video (now with an annoying dentist commerical): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J5WgTyqB8Pc Here's a .pdf of the pattern. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5shkCRirc5Sa000b3laT1BRMGc/edit?pli=1 If you can't get to Google Docs directly, there's a link in this blog post (4th paragraph): http://englandstreet.blogspot.com/2012/10/summer-in-park-free-jelly-roll-pattern.html While the two strip sets in the video and pattern are different (one is color-white-color and the other is white-color-white), if you were to make the two strips sets EXACTLY the same (both color-white-color), and follow the instructions given for sewing and cutting, you would end up with a block that has SIX stripes - I numbered them on the diagram below (sorry the numbers are so small). Then you would sew together 4 of those blocks (same coloring) to get the larger block. Personally, I hate this pattern because of all the bias, but I know MQC has a huge following, so the customers must all not mind it. If you go this route, I'd suggest starching your fabrics (or at least the strip sets) before cutting the squares. Anyway, that's what I see when I look at those blocks. Strange that this post is all so spread out - I couldn't make it more compact. |

http://cuttopieces.blogspot.com/2012/05/quiltmaker-100-blocks-vol-5.html It's in the 100 Blocks Vol 5 magazine. |
Nice to have friends on the west coast at this hour - I knew one of them would have the magazine.
It's the first method I outlined above - made with triangles. The block is called Mermaid Blossoms, block #492. |

I think it's strips cut into triangles. I've done a quilt that was made like this. It really just depends on where you place the fabrics and what width the strips are.

This pattern is similar to one we have done by three guys from arizona. sew your strips together I believe there are five in a row or however many you might like we used 2.5" strips and i think we used 5 press and then measure. cut your strips to make a square you will get 4 squares from one strip lay them out one block horizonally and one uo and down. sew around all four sides then cut from corner to corner be careful how you cut it then open it up and you will have 2 sets of blocks match them how ever you might like I will try to attach a picture. or better yet let me email you direct

You can message me Tina I just printed out a free pattern this week that looks like this. The name is "To the Point", and I found it at Kaelly Studio.com, it is an interactive pattern/video, but the print out for the pattern is free. The pattern that I printed out is mady with half square triangles, and the cutting and amt. of fabric is listed. You might need some help with this since you said you were a novice, but then you might just be able to whiz right through it. You might go to this site and see if this in what you are looking for. Yes the spelling kaelly is correct. |

Try making a test... make 2 square in a square and then cut on the diagonal. Just a thought,
Oops I see that idea is up already. |

This looks like you make strip sets of dark/light/dark and cut 45 degree triangles. Takes 8 triangles to make the block. Tried to upload photo, but can't seem to get the computer to work.
