I wonder if more quilters would have this if they had a say in how their funeral went.

Leave a note!

That is a great idea and a wonderful memorial for the quilter!

At a recent funeral I attended the family used a prayer quilt that was given to her in her illness. It was placed on her casket under the flowers. Nice touch as she was a sentimental person.

I've seen photos of mourning quilts on the caskets and they are beautiful.

this was done for a friend of mine too. it was only one quilt draped over her coffin. The quilt was stared as soon as we heard she sick. There is a group of us that always hung togther from work and we all put our appliqued hand print around the edges. she was always saying really funny things so we added the 'great sayings' around the border.

as sad a time as this was, seeing the 'girlfriends' quilt in this place of honor was and is still very moving.
peace

When my mom passed, we had the last quilt she made placed over her in the casket and buried with her. When my dad passed last year, we buried him the same way with the quilt she made for him.

What a wonderful idea. If I get some of the UFO's done, I will make that request.

This brought tears to my eyes, that is a beautiful thing to do.
