I did the same thing because I had extra strips. I decided to cut off strips 4" wide and enough strips to go around whole quilt like piano keys. I think it turned out great with that new look.

Like the little toes that are showing. Pretty colors, too.

I thought it gave it added accent, too! :-)

I wouldn't rip either - it looks great. Add a border and call it DONE! (I am working on 2 right now and one is a little bigger and one is a little smaller.)

I personally love the way it looks & would leave it as is. A border & ta da! I have a couple of jelly rolls that I want to use this weekend to make a couple of JRR. The thing that I wonder about, tho is (don't laugh... I', kinda nala about this sort of thing) is how do you keep all the designs going the right direction?

Thanks Becky

You only paid $10 for all that fabulous fabric? Wow, girl... you must be livin' right! LOL!

I prefer the lengthwise strips, it makes me look thinner when I'm under the quilt. LOL

I hadn't thought of it that way. Plus, if you made it out of black fabric, you'd nearly disappear! LOL!

it looks good to me. Anytime you change the number of strips and/or don't miter them together, the final size will vary from the approximate 64" x 49". Mine is about 64" x 55" b/c I used 2 1/2" squares between the strips instead of mitering them together.

So the "correct" number of strips to use is 40? I'd planned to throw a couple of extras into mine (of the border fabric just to sorta tie it in more). I'd just hoping all my miters go the right direction. I marked them with a marker, but knowing me...

Another size question... can you use 40 21" 2.5" strips to make a baby-sized quilt? That was a brilliant I'd had (haven't done it yet as I'm still scouting the perfect jelly roll for it).
