Update to Laser Marker for showing seams...Got it! Love it!
 

Took a lot of fiddling but here it is!:
Great for piecing large or small pieces. One picture shows the line crooked and the other shows it straight with just a turn of the piece nearest the tip.

Note that I was concerned about squaring it above the needle which would block my vision and make it hard to thread my machine. More fiddling gave me the OK to set if off to the left where it gives me a great line and impedes nothing! (The laser comes with batteries and all needed attaching bits for any kind of use. After 2 separate "clunk" sounds in the late evening I found that the "sticky" on the rubber pad does not hold on my machine surface, Pfaff, and knowing I will never sell or trade in my machine I went with super glue. It is super steady now. Happy, happy!
Note: I was paper piecing in the second picture, but you can clearly see the line and that I could have sewn alone that line without the paper.

For those considering mounting one of these lights and leary of using super glue - a command by 3M strip can do the job.

I tried that, too cuz I love those, but mine were too narrow and caused the laser not to be rock steady. Whatever works! Wish that had but I'm in business!

Where did you find the laser light? Brand name?

Prism - you can get them cheap at Harbor Freight. If I remember right, they're designed for saws, so you can cut a straight line. If the guys only knew how handy their tools are... :D

I'm going tomorrow to get mine but will check the home improvement (Sutherland's) across from my WAlmart. I might get one for both my machines.

Does this need to be installed directly above the spot you want the laser to "highlight?" I know it rotates, but I assume that's in a "top to bottom" rotation, as opposed to "side to side?" Sorry I'm not being more clear; just having a hard time picturing how it could provide a straight-down laser seam guide if installed off to the side rather than directly above the desired seam location (I don't know if there's a flat space for installation above that location on my machine body, which is slightly curved in that area).
