This doesn't surprise me. We lived across the street from the post office and watched the handlers open letters on a nightly basis.

So sorry for the loss!! I had a beautiful quilt stolen and it breaks my heart that there are such horrible people in this world. I know who ever did this will get theirs someday!! I wouldn't let it go either. Good luck to you!

I'm so sorry to hear about the ordeal of you lost quilt. Stay on the PM and hopefully someone will listen and find it. I send thing through USPS a lot but like Fed Ex better...

Hope that it's just the package being damaged and quilt separated from label and you get it back. I have a very difficult time mailing packages to my son--he lives in apt complex and the PO doesn't always stick the notice in their mailbox--sometimes it gets stuck on the front door they rarely use. So the package goes to apt. complex office and they do a TERRIBLE job of getting packages to them!

Same here, the package just gets left at the office, no notice is left in my sons mail box or on his door. I have to make sure I call him everyday to see if he got his package. Also a friend of mine worked at a PO and said magazines are read by everyone who wants to before it is finally delivered.

Jane, I agree with all you said. Any delivery service can destroy a package, and any delivery service can have thieves. Many hire temp help for the holiday season, as well, so anything, including theft, can happen.

However, it is odd that all the address info on a package that was destroyed is magically available to send to a customer.

Tape what you see and bring it into the post office. Ask for an explanation. I wonder what the explanation would be.

Now you know why the post office is going broke.

Always put an address label INSIDE of the package also. This was suggested by the post office many years ago. If package gets damaged there is the hope the inside label will be seen.

Hopefully the box was insured for double what it was worth. I know this pains you, as it does all of us reading this. Just know that the thief will get theirs in the end.
